Purchasing options

We have developed three purchasing options, to support clients with a variety of needs

Habitat banks

An area of land that is restored to create a bank of offset units that can then be allocated and sold. We have a growing strategic network of habitat banks with offsets ready for immediate use from river units to lowland meadows. Our habitat banks are flexible, allowing developers to specify the offsets they want.

Build-to-Order

Bespoke schemes that deliver multiple habitat types, including high-distinctiveness habitats, specifically delivered for individual developments or pipelines. Developers have access to the specific number and type of offsets they need quickly and at competitive prices within the location where they need them.

Option Contracts

Provides the right, but not the obligation, to buy BNG units in the future (within a fixed time), at terms agreed today, securing price and availability. Reducing upfront offset costs and providing long-term risk mitigation for developers through an uncertain planning process.

Who we support

Land promoters

We increase the overall value of your sites, providing cost certainty to the ultimate developer, enhancing nature within and outside of the development boundary, and reducing pre-construction offset costs.

Developers

Working with developers of all sizes, we ensure reliable national access to high-quality offsets at competitive rates. We can provide you with flexible payment terms to delay offsetting costs along the development process, improving project returns.

Brokers

We work closely with large brokers to ensure they can reliably source the offsets their clients need, with the ability to extend our flexible payment terms to your clients.

Affiliates

From planners to contractors or ecology consultants, we advise on offsetting strategies, securing reliable access to high-integrity offsets, and financing environmental-related costs.

Our case studies

Cobham, Elmbridge

The site lies within the River Mole Biodiversity Opportunity Area (BOA). BOAs identify the most important areas for wildlife conservation remaining in Surrey and each include a variety of habitats, providing for an ‘ecosystem approach’ to nature conservation across and beyond the county.

Nunthorpe, Middlesbrough

The site is currently an arable desert on poorly draining soils adjacent to a heavily canalised stream. The site will be taken out of agricultural production transformed to a scrub grassland mosaic. The scrub will comprise mixed native species and will eventually mature and be managed to have different age categories with areas of open space within it.

Whiteparish, Wiltshire

The scheme will create opportunities for new species to move in such as Reed Buntings and Sedge Warblers. It will also measurably reduce the amount of nutrients, micro plastics and other artificial chemicals entering the Solent.
